luftalone

luftalone was a workshop and performance action in Berlin’s Neukolln district. Hosted by The Center for Endless Progress, it was part of The Center’s 48 Hours of Choreography event, June 2011. luftalone was conceived and facilitated by Mirae Rosner. Participating dancers were Hsiao-Ling, Arthur, Veri, Alfons, Bernhard, Severin, Lina and Jaime.

Participants were given a two hour workshop in various movement patterns that related to a performance action which centered around letting-go of a balloon.   In the workshop, we worked with breath, flow, weight, and release.  A simple score was devised for the performance action, and the dancers performed it on the street near The Centre. The participants came from different backgrounds, and displayed a rich diversity of movement abilities, creating a mix of responses to the performative task. The workshop was accessible, fun, and designed to enliven the street through an unexpected encounter.
